Enzi Imports
the artisans: "the artisans These are some the wonderful women who make the Enzi jewelry. They truly are the essence of Enzi. We exist because of them and their beautiful, handcrafted products, as well as their beautiful, priceless, and worthy lives and the lives of their children. Our commitment and goals for them it that they would be empowered, that they would be able to care for themselves and their children, and not just survive, but thrive!
Enzi Imports is working with several women's groups and we deal directly with each group. We work with a coop in Kampala, Uganda, led by a woman named Agnes. She is a single mom, able to go back to school because of her business relationship with Enzi. This fall she opened up a bank account for the first time.
Another group of women Enzi works with is located in the surrounding areas of Jinja, Uganda. They are a coop of women connected to the organization AOET, which cares for AIDS orphans. These women are almost all single-parents, caring for their own children, as well as foster-parenting children in need.
We are beginning to work with a group of ladies in Kenya, led by another Agnes, who is truly a go-getter and a wonderful business woman. We have partnered with this group to provide sewing machines, grain, and a used clothing business. They are developing their supply and distribution systems and we will soon be seeing their jewelry on our site."
