Book Review: Experiencing Spirituality

by Ernest Kurtz and Katherine Ketchum

Reading Experiencing Spirituality by Ernest Kurtz and Katherine Ketcham reminds me of a line I once heard, "good stories make us good." Throughout the text of this book, the authors interweave stories, both ancient and new, that bring their lessons alive. This is the power of stories and the richness of Experiencing Spirituality. It is through the blend of teaching and stories that the ineffable becomes present as an experience. The stories point the way, but even more, they open the heart beyond mere intellectual understanding to a living teaching, a felt experience, hence the title. The book is mind expanding, heart enriching and soul inspiring.

Review by Rev. Ruth Barnharta staff minister at Center for Spiritual Living, Santa Rosa.
