Hand-carved Buddha from Bali

Wood carving is an art and skill that is taught to children from an early age in Bali.  Whole villages are dedicated to a particular craft, such as wood carving, or stone carving, or painting and so on.   Because of the lightness of the material, a hand-carved Buddha is one of the items that can travel home easily with visitors.  But for those of us who don't have travel to Bali in our near plans, we can still have an inspirational bit of Bali's spiritual art tradition in our home.

Stepping Stones Books and Gifts features beautiful art work from Bali and other places in the world.  From time to time we like to offer an item in a raffle and our current raffle features the beautiful Buddha carving in this photograph.

Purchase raffle tickets in Stepping Stones Books and Gifts when you next visit the Center for Spiritual Living, Santa Rosa and you may be the new owner.

Drawing to be held on Sunday July 24 at 1:00 pm.

May Bookstore Event

At the Mic
An Artist's view of the recording process
with Christopher Fritzsche

What does it take to create a classical vocal recording?
Have you ever wondered?

Christopher Fritzsche will take you on a behind the scenes look and "listen" into his career in the world of recording.

Come and hear excerpts from and the "inside story" on tracks from studio and location recordings.  You'll also hear tracks from recently released live recordings of his work in the men's vocal ensembles Chanticleer and Clerestory.

From choosing the music to selecting the producer, engineer, instrumentalists, instruments and recording venue, he will also share his experience of co-creating with soprano Marguerite Krull, their recently released recording of Pergolesi's masterpiece, the Stabat Mater, for soprano, alto and Baroque Orchestra, as well as two Sacred Cantatas by the French composer Andre Campra.
