Book Review: Daring Greatly

How the Courage to Be Vulnerable
Transforms the Way We Live,
Love, Parent and Lead

by Brene Brown, Ph.D., LMSW

In her book, Daring Greatly, Brene Brown takes us through the process of opening to our vulnerability. Brown, who has become known through her Ted talks, brings to light the importance of expressing authentically, by dropping our armoring and allowing ourselves to feel. She uses not only her extensive research, but also her own personal healing work to bring clarity, humor and inspiration to this journey so often avoided. She humanizes our shame and all that we do to cover it and then takes us through the steps to develop what she calls, shame resilience. Her book addresses the value of this work for our personal lives and as parents, teachers and leaders; supporting life altering healing for all of us and for our world.

Review by Rev. Ruth Barnharta staff minister at Center for Spiritual Living Santa Rosa.

Daring Greatly is available from Stepping Stones Books and Gifts.
